As an ESD event generates a strong electromagnetic field nearby, an appropriate care shall be taken to avoid interference with nearby electronic equipment or systems. Ideally, testing shall be done in a shielded chamber or other shielded facilities.

If it is not available, move electromagnetically sensitive equipment away from the test area to maintain an effective separation between the interference source (ESD test generator and associated test set-up) and equipment to be protected.
